“Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation was established in March of 2017 by Anna and John Garrido. With assistance from Niles Animal Hospital, our rescue foundation provides veterinary care for homeless pets in need. Our rescues receive everything from spay/neuter, to vaccinations, surgeries, microchipping, dental work, x-rays and more. Without financial support, we would not be able to help these rescues in need. Our ultimate goal is to reunite them with their owners, but if that is not possible, we welcome them to our foster program and find them a loving home.

Our rescue foundation works hand in hand with the 16th District Chicago Police Department to avoid sending found pets to City of Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) where the chances of getting sick or euthanized are high. We are able to accomplish this through our network of volunteers and foster homes, with devoted assistance from The Dog House, L. C. & L and Dog Den Chicago. Additionally, we assist families in need with veterinary costs, pet food, and training. To ensure future lost pets find their way back home, our foundation hosts microchipping events with Lost Dogs Illinois. We also launched a Young Hero Program which recognizes young adults with exceptional contribution to animal rescue.

In 2018, we accomplished the following:
-Provided veterinary care for over 90 pets
-Saved 4 cats, but sadly none were reunited with the owner
-Saved 286 dogs, 243 of which (or 82%) were reunited with their owner
-Between the pets in our care and joint events with Lost Dogs Illinois, we successfully microchipped over 300 pets in 2018
-Launched a Young Hero Program and awarded 7 young adults for their incredible contributions to GSRF

As you can imagine all these efforts are costly and to help make this impact, we rely on sponsor generosity. We are asking you for help to support our foundation, which will make an even bigger difference.”
